We leave for Johns Hopkins tomorrow morning around 3:00 AM. I have not been there for a long time because every visit turns into an exercise in pain. In fact, I used to call Johns Hopkins The House Of Pain after the classic 1932 horror film Island of Lost Souls.
So after a three hour drive into the nightmare landscape of Baltimore I’ll have a doctor up to his elbows in my ears in the House Of Pain, and then a three hour drive back to Crisfield.
It’s gonna be a long day. At least Dear Old Dad is going with me
I took last week off so I could focus on writing, but I got sick on Monday morning – and I have been sick as a dog ever since.
Two trips to the emergency room later I am starting to get my strength back.
Dear Old Dad and I are making a road trip to one of the places Amy and I used to visit. I have been trying to get out with my camera for way too long. I want to see the snow geese while they are sill on the Eastern Shore!
Now I am going to watch a terrible movie with Pooka. My calico companion has been by my side all through my illness, sleeping happily on my pillow.
Last year neurological issues made it difficult for me to type.
I handled the situation the way I usually do; I adapted. I dropped off social media and turned my attention to writing. The keyboard was out so I started writing my next book longhand, with paper and pencils.
Now it is 2019. My book is coming close to completion and I have made a little bit of progress with the neurological issues. I think it is safe to dip my toe into the murky water of social media.I Have set up new Facebook and Twitteraccounts today. As things progress I will be posting more information on the upcoming book and other cool folk music projects we have in the works.
I am proud of the progress my mom is making with her web site. Be sure to visit misstrudy.com for recipes, craft projects, poetry and her insights into early childhood development.
We have a ton of exciting music and mayhem in the works for the year ahead. I can’t wait to get started!
